Habana Village - A DC Cuban Landmark

Mi gente, welcome to my first venue blog post.  I'm excited to tell you about Habana Village, a staple for pure fun, sweat-dripping Salsa dancing a lo Cubano.  On Friday night, February 06, 2011, I ventured into Habana Village with some of my friends.  It's located in one of the busiest neighborhoods in Washington, DC - Adams Morgan.  Habana Village is a restaurant by day and a dancing haven by night.  This cozy, medium sized venue has three floors.  The first floor functions mainly as the restaurant.  The second floor is strictly Salsa and on Friday and Saturday nights, the third floor DJ moves dancers to diverse Latin beats and rhythms, including bachata, merengue, cumbia, Spanish rock, reggaeton and much more.  So, mi gente, if you can't get enough of the Cuban style Salsa, then Habana Village is the spot for you.  Even better, on any given night you may encounter a live band with its soulful trumpets and drums transporting you to Habana itself.


GUESS WHAT? The music and overall ambiance was great, however, what really blew my mind away was their "mojitos".  This is their signature drink.  A mojito is basically a Cuban alcoholic drink with white rum and mint leaves.  The best part is that the bartenders at Habana Village add a piece of sugarcane to this drink, which is not true to other bars that offer the drink in DC.  For more information on "mojitos," please click here:  http://www.bacardimojito.com/

In regards to price, on Friday and Saturday nights, men are charged six dollars and females are free all night.  This is smart because obviously men will go where the ladies are and will pay in order to have an opportunity to dance with them, especially if the music is on point.  For those of you men who have a special lady, the six dollars is worth the cover in order to make your lady have a great Latin dancing experience.
